Democrats Making History
========================

Progress Is The Product of Great Leadership

**Throughout American history, Democrats have consistently advocated for progress.** This dedication has positioned some of the Democratic Party's contributors to be remembered as some of the most influential progressive politicians in history. They not only defined their times but also advocated for progressive policies that shaped the course of the nation. From championing civil rights to promoting social and economic justice, Democrats have played a pivotal role in influencing the trajectory of American history.

*Here are a few examples:*

1. **Barack Obama** - The United States marked a historical day on January 20th, 2009, when the first African American President, Barack Obama, was elected. He went on to serve two terms and contributed to some of the most monumental policy initiatives during his time as commander and chief, such as ending the war in Iraq,  passing the Affordable Care Act, and rescuing the United States from the Great Recession.

2. **Franklin D. Roosevelt** - Our only president to be elected four times (1933–45), navigated the U.S. through turbulent periods like the Great Depression and World War II with political savvy and optimism. His New Deal, aimed at lifting the nation from economic hardship, included significant government reforms, such as the creation of Social Security.

3. **Shirley Chisholm** - the first African American woman elected to the U.S. Congress in 1968, served from 1969 to 1983, advocating for liberal policies. In 1972, she became the first black female to run for president from a major party, capturing 152 delegates before withdrawing.

4. **Tammy Baldwin** - In 2013, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin became the U.S. Senate's first openly gay member after a closely contested election against Republican candidate Tommy Thompson. Baldwin's victory, attributed to her progressive stance supporting universal health care, civil rights, and environmental protections, marked a historic moment in American politics.
**These leaders have championed progress by listening to and representing the people. We can't allow MAGA to set us back by regressing progress and removing our freedoms.**[**Chip in now to support and defend leaders like Tammy Baldwin and Democrats across the country fighting to preserve our majority in the Senate >>**]([link removed])
