The Return Of Think The Vote!

The first Think The Vote question of the new year looks at foreign aid. Part of the United States’ role as the leader of the free world is providing assistance to other countries, particularly during times of need.

The U.S. currently contributes hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to countries all over the world – most notably when those countries are engaged in conflicts. But should the United States government increase foreign aid to countries fighting in foreign wars?

Students can submit their thoughts on this highly-debated Think The Vote topic until Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Don't Forget About MyImpact Challenge!

Students can win up to $10,000 in prizes, and up to $40,000 in total prizes are available to students and teachers as part of the Bill of Rights Institute's MyImpact Challenge! Applications for this year's contest are due by 11:59 p.m. PT on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

There is still time for your students to sign up! Each year, BRI hosts this national civic engagement contest for students to develop constitutionally-principled service projects that benefit their local communities.

Meet Lona Tracy!

Lona Tracy loves working with children, whether while owning a dance studio and teaching children there during her previous career or through her desire to volunteer with Children’s National Medical Center.

Lona also hopes she instills a love and appreciation for the United States in her students as she marks 30 years as a history and government teacher at Moorcroft High School in Moorcroft, Wyo.

It’s an election year! In the lead-up to the 2024 elections, multiple issues will be discussed and debated leading up to the day Americans nationwide cast their vote. Those issues might include foreign aid, which was the basis of our first Think The Vote question of the new year!

Should the United States government increase foreign aid to countries fighting in foreign wars? Your students can discuss this question with their classmates and submit their responses on the BRI website. The students with the best responses will be chosen to receive a special prize!

We hope you and your students will continue engaging in civil discourse on this topic and others as the country prepares for elections this fall.
