Hi John,
How has climate change and the transition to cleaner cars impacted you?
Maybe you’ve watched winter storms intensify over the years, and know that transportation is the leading cause of climate changing emissions in Maine. Maybe you love your electric vehicle because it saves you money on maintenance and gas, or you’re considering an electric vehicle but are waiting for them to become more accessible.
Maine’s 2021 Clean Transportation Roadmap called for adoption of Advanced Clean Cars II standards to gradually ramp up adoption of zero-emission vehicles and reduce emissions from our most polluting sector. Three years later, the Bureau of Environmental Protection (BEP) is still debating the standards, which would be effective beginning in model year 2028 if we get them passed this year. To do so, we need to show strong public support.
That’s why we’re hosting a Maine Conservation Voices storytelling workshop on the path forward for clean cars in Maine! We’ll gather virtually on Tuesday, January 30 from 12-1 PM. We’ll write Letters to the Editor (LTEs) of our local newspaper and/or public comments to go directly to decision makers before the upcoming vote on Advanced Clean Cars II standards.
