Governor Kelly Orders Delayed Start for State Employees in Shawnee County
TOPEKA — Due to safety concerns regarding winter weather, Governor Laura Kelly has declared Inclement Weather, initiating a delayed start time of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, for non-essential state employees in Shawnee County.
“Due to icy road conditions, state employees will have a delayed start time tomorrow,” said Governor Kelly. “Please exercise caution when driving and allow road crews to do their job.”
State offices will be closed from today until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning to give road crews adequate time after sunrise to clear streets and sidewalks. State employees should report to work for a 10 a.m. start time, at which time offices will be open to the public.
This declaration does not include employees in the Board of Regents, Regents Institutions, the Judicial Branch, other statewide elected offices, nor the Legislative Branch of Government. Their designated representative will make a separate declaration for those employees if appropriate.
