Over the last two weeks, President Biden has ordered airstrikes in Yemen.
These bombings were unconstitutional AND incredibly reckless — President
Biden is heightening tensions and violence in the Middle East that could
cause the war in Israel and Gaza to expand into a regional conflict.

Rep. Ro Khanna called on President Biden to follow the law and come to
Congress before any further violence in Yemen citing Article I of the U.S.
Constitution and saying, “I will stand up for that regardless of whether a
Democrat or Republican is in the White House.”

airstrikes in Yemen and follow the U.S. Constitution.

Further U.S. airstrikes in Houthi-held territory in Yemen could lead to
more direct U.S. military involvement in an expanding regional conflict.
That’s unacceptable. It’s past time for peace in Gaza — President Biden
bombing Yemen is not how we achieve a diplomatic ceasefire.

Article I of the Constitution and the War Powers Resolution make it clear:
The president does not have the power to launch a preemptive strike like
this without approval from Congress unless necessitated by a “national
emergency” to defend against an “attack upon the United States, its
territories or possessions, or its armed forces."

Rep. Ro Khanna and other progressive members of Congress like Pramila
Jayapal are right to call out the unconstitutional nature of these
airstrikes. We must work towards peace, not more war.
