John,
Today would have marked the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade. After generations of women led mobilization efforts across the country, Roe v. Wade enshrined reproductive freedom as a constitutional right. For decades after, this landmark Supreme Court decision decriminalized abortion, expanded access to abortion services, and significantly improved the lives and health of women and families.
In 2022, a Supreme Court with a conservative majority overturned 50 years of precedent despite decades of national consensus. Since then, 21 states have enacted extreme abortion bans, criminalizing women seeking abortions and their doctors and even going after contraception.
John, Republicans aren’t stopping there; they’ve already threatened to impose a federal ban on abortion. Millions more stand to lose their fundamental freedom to reproductive healthcare access under Republican control.
Today, on what would have been Roe v. Wade’s 51st anniversary, I reaffirm my commitment to reproductive justice. That includes combating extremist legislation that further infringes on that right and passing legislation that expands and safeguards reproductive rights.
I urge my colleagues in Congress to do the same. John, if you’re with me, I hope you’ll join in showing your support by adding your name below. Strong grassroots support is most effective in keeping up the pressure, so we need as many signatures as possible before midnight.
