Well, we’re in it now. Election year. Another one. Across the country, hundreds of thousands of people are running for office, in every city, county, and state, not to mention the battle for the White House. It seems like we’re always here, always in an election year, always in the election that will determine the balance of democracy, and this year things are more uncertain than ever. It is going to be a long year, and it is certainly going to be a year when courage is required.

After the last few years, capped off by a truly terrible 2023, with the world in such turmoil, it would be easy to switch off, turn away, and let our election burnout take over. But, of course, we can’t do that. If there is anything we have learned by now, it’s that democracy is a privilege that we have to fight for every day. No days off.
For us, that means prepping for our biggest year of Vote By Mail in Jail [ [link removed] ] ever while setting up our clients and communities for successful voter education and GOTV this fall. For you, maybe it’s canvassing for a local candidate or cause you care about, gathering a few friends to provide babysitting for busy moms who want to go to the polls, or educating yourself on the ballot and inviting your friends over for brunch and voting. There are and will be countless ways to get involved this year and now is the time to start planning.

I always say, nowhere in the country has 100% voter turnout but if we all focus on making sure 100% of our family, friends, and community vote, we can get there.
This year, I’m going to be brave, I’m going to stay awake, and I am going to stay connected. How about you?
