"The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing."

- Zephaniah 3:17

IJM signed its first memorandum of understanding with the Romanian Government through the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Agency for Combatting Trafficking in Persons (ANITP). We praise God for this relationship and pray that He continues to build trust between us. The Agency is responsible for prevention activities and non-governmental agencies involved in anti-trafficking efforts in Romania. We give thanks to God for the speed at which we were able to accomplish this and thank God for all of your prayers as we establish a presence in Central and Eastern Europe.

Please pray for wisdom as our regional and office teams design a strategy to scale our impact in the Northern Triangle. Building on our work in Guatemala and El Salvador to protect women and children from violence, we are pursuing an increasingly integrated strategy to scale protection in the broader region. Ask God to grant our team creativity and discernment as we envision what the next several years might look like.

Praise God for the successful rescue of 50 people from modern slavery at a wood-cutting site late last week. These families were trapped by false debts to a powerful man and then taken around to rural areas to cut down trees and brush by hand. They worked grueling hours and had little time for sleep or proper meals. Our government partners did an amazing job comforting them and addressing their fears — a praise within itself! Please pray for follow-up arrests in this case and for these families as they finally resettle in freedom.

Praise God that five fishermen are now free from forced labor and human trafficking after being rescued by Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) with assistance from IJM. Four of the fishermen were identified by Thai government officers on Tuesday as victims of human trafficking, while the fifth was identified as a forced labor victim under Thailand's new forced labor law. The five survivors will be transferred to a government shelter for safety and assistance. Pray for the men and for IJM's team as they support the survivors to move forward in freedom and pursue justice in court.
IJM HQ & Global Partners
IJM headquarters is located in the United States. IJM has
international advancement offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, the
Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

- Please pray for the interns and fellow at each of our field offices who are determining whether they should return home or stay in the country they're currently stationed in. Pray also for wisdom and stamina for the staff negotiating the logistics and almost daily-changing dynamics of international travel and border control for those on their way home.
