Hi friends,
As the person who knows Dave Min the best in this world, I wanted to tell you about the REAL Dave Min.
The first thing you should know is that he’s a feminist through and through. Going back to our first date in 2002, he asked me if I was a feminist. I liked how comfortably he expressed his values, and we connected over this and so much more.
Over the past two decades, I’ve experienced firsthand how Dave lives his values. Most people don’t know this, but Dave switched jobs multiple times early in his career so that I could advance my career. When he was working in New York City as an Enforcement Attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission, I was awarded a Women’s Law & Public Policy Fellowship in Washington, DC, and a teaching fellowship at Georgetown University Law Center. Within seconds of learning this, Dave said: “Say 'yes.' I’ll move to DC."
Five years later, when I went on the tenure-track teaching market, there were only two schools in the county hiring for Domestic Violence Clinic positions. In DC, Dave had been working on the Hill as Senator Schumer’s banking counsel and then for the Joint Economic Committee, and he said “Go for it.” When I was hired as a professor to start a Domestic Violence Law Clinic in Seattle, Dave became a policy director at the Center for American Progress, which allowed him to telecommute.
In these big life moves and in our daily lives, I see how Dave lives what he preaches. And his values are reflected in the incredible record of what he’s accomplished these last three years as our California State Senator.
We’ve now worked on eight bills together that have passed and have two more this term. For example, one of the first bills Dave authored was a first-in-the-world law making reproductive coercion part of our definition of domestic abuse here in California, targeting interference with contraceptive use or pregnancy outcomes of the pregnant person.
I see how much Dave cares about our District, how he fights for what’s right, and his passion for the intricacies of policy work for a better future.
Now Dave needs your help to bring those same values to Washington, DC.
Your support means the world to our family. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you.
- Jane
