Getting Answers from Dr. Fauci

Video

Congressman Cloud on Newsmax discussing the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic's interview with Dr. Fauci.

“I don’t remember” was perhaps the most common answer we heard from Dr. Fauci in two days of depositions.  For someone who was the public face of the COVID response, he had an uncanny ability to forget what happened and find ways to shirk any sort of responsibility for the influence he had.

One thing was clear, much of the draconian “guidance” he and others promulgated was not based on scientific data but more on political science.

When asked about the lessons learned, Fauci argued that these same “experts” who failed America should actually be given more authority. We should be reigning in the ‘public health’ bureaucracy and holding them accountable — not giving them more power.

Fauci also claimed total ignorance as to the federal grants that went out under his watch — particularly grants on ‘gain of function’ research, where scientists can potentially manipulate viruses into something incredibly dangerous like COVID. It’s tragic to know that under his stewardship, U.S. taxpayer dollars were directed to fund this kind of research at the Wuhan lab.

One of the most surprising things was Fauci’s response regarding keeping children out of school. He conveyed that he is “not convinced” children suffered learning loss due to school closures during the pandemic, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. This is outrageous — not just because of the complete denial of data, but because it opens the door to believing keeping kids out of school is ever acceptable again.

I joined Newsmax to discuss this, which you can watch HERE.

Update on the Impeachment Inquiry

Video

Congressman Cloud joined Newsmax to discuss his support for holding Hunter Biden in Contempt of Congress.

As many of you may remember, last month Hunter Biden was subpoenaed to answer questions about overwhelming evidence revealing President Biden knew of, participated in, and benefitted from his family cashing in on the Biden name.

Unfortunately, rather than follow the law, Hunter Biden ended up making a public show of his refusal to comply. This is totally unacceptable and deserves formal Congressional contempt. That’s why we approved the resolution recommending the House of Representatives hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress. Americans deserve transparency.

There are a number of questions regarding checks received from foreign powers, shell companies set up to launder money, and his father’s involvement in Hunter’s influence-peddling schemes. I will continue to investigate where the evidence leads as part of my Oversight role in Congress.

You can watch the interview I did with Newsmax discussing this above.

Congratulations to Veterans Memorial High School!

Congratulations to Veterans Memorial High School in Corpus Christi for being chosen to host a Coast Guard JROTC unit! This is a significant win for the school and for the Corpus Christi military presence that will benefit recruiting, building on the strong relationship between the U.S. Coast Guard and our district, and continue to establish Corpus Christi’s reputation as one of the most military friendly homes in Texas.

At the Border in Eagle Pass, TX

Video

Recently I joined the largest Congressional delegation to ever visit the border in Eagle Pass, Texas. We met with state and local officials to discuss the continued failures of the Biden Administration to enforce our immigration laws and their experience on the ground.

The response from local officials was clear: the Biden/Mayorkas regime consistently disregards the rights and security of the American people, doesn’t allow law enforcement to do their jobs, and uses every tool at its disposal to incentivize illegal activity across our border.

Since they’ve been left with no other choice, Texas is taking matters into its own hands and using its own resources to do what the federal government is not — building a border barrier and defending American citizens. Even as recently as this week, Texas reclaimed a section of Eagle Pass from Border Patrol in an effort to stop the surge of illegal immigration. The current system is unsustainable. I commend Governor Abbott and the Texas National Guard for their efforts in securing our border and protecting our communities.

Time and time again, the Biden administration prioritizes the livelihoods of illegal immigrants over the American people. Last week, it was announced that students at James Madison High School in Brooklyn, New York were being kicked out of class and forced to learn virtually to house illegal immigrants. This is completely unacceptable. During the pandemic, we saw the devastating effects remote learning had on our children’s education yet the Biden administration would rather prioritize illegal immigrants over American students.
