Roe v. Wade was decided 51 years ago today. It was a monumental day in our nation's history when the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that women had a right to choose.

But in June of 2022, the conservative majority on the Supreme Court overturned Roe and robbed reproductive freedom from millions nationwide.

We have seen the catastrophic damages this decision has caused all over the country. Abortion clinics are overwhelmed in blue states and women are being refused vital care in red ones.

Just recently, a Texas woman was denied an abortion for her high-risk pregnancy and was forced to seek care in a different state to save her life. And here in Wisconsin, Republicans have fought to keep Wisconsin’s draconian 1849 ban on abortion in place and since a court ruled the law unconstitutional, they just introduced a 14-week abortion ban.

This issue is personal. My mother had a complicated pregnancy that put her health at risk. But she had a choice and decided to end the pregnancy. Now, many women in the same situation are being denied that same lifesaving option.

The past few years have been a constant battle for women, doctors, and advocates nationwide. But today is a reminder that we all need to remain steadfast and determined in this fight because we collectively have the power to restore abortion rights.

And it starts with you and me, making sure we elect pro-choice Democrats up and down the ballot nationwide this November.

We can’t let Trump pursue a nationwide abortion ban or pack the Supreme Court with more anti-abortion conservative justices.

We need to reelect Tammy Baldwin and Jon Tester and help Colin Allred flip Texas’ seat to protect our Senate majority and vote to restore abortion access everywhere.

And we need to elect folks like Will Rollins, Sarah Klee Hood, and Josh Riley so we can take back the House majority and pass reproductive care legislation.

But they can’t do it alone, they need our support.

We know we have the power to win if we have your support. So we are asking: So can you please contribute $3 or whatever you can afford to The Long Run so we can continue supporting pro-choice Democrats up and down the ballot nationwide? Every donation will help us fund and provide resources to candidates in critical races.
