Today is the 51st anniversary of
Roe vs. Wade – which guaranteed abortion rights, at least until Trump's extreme Supreme Court plunged our country backward by taking away the right to reproductive freedom for millions of women.
Since the
Dobbs decision ended over 50 years of abortion rights, states across the country have put into place cruel laws that ban abortion after 6 weeks, imprison women for making medical decisions, and prevent doctors from providing life saving care.
The Supreme Court could make abortions even harder to secure this year if they uphold a Texas judge's decision to overturn the FDA’s approval of mifepristone. This commonly prescribed abortion medication has been safely used for decades.
Abortion is on the ballot in 2024 because Republicans have made it clear that if they get the majority necessary, they will pass a nationwide abortion ban that will affect women even in states like Maryland, where our rights are protected.
My MAGA opponent, Dan Cox, went as far as to say that abortion should be banned under all circumstances – even when the life of the mother is in danger.
