51 years ago, the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that abortion rights were federally protected by the U.S. Constitution.

While today used to be a historical turning point worthy of celebration, it now serves as a reminder that instead of protecting millions of Americans’ rights, our country has moved backwards on reproductive healthcare.

And Republicans are to blame. Not only are they responsible for banning abortion in numerous states, but they’ve gone so far as to gloat about it — especially Trump.

At a recent town hall, Trump not only took credit for overturning Roe, but he called it a miracle.

Let me clear: Banning abortion is not a miracle, it’s a violation of personal freedom.

In 2022, Michiganders voted overwhelmingly to enshrine abortion rights into our state’s constitution, and I won’t rest until we guarantee that abortion rights are once again protected on the federal level.
