Dear fellow Brooklynites,

Our annual fundraiser ([link removed]) is just days away. This year, we're honoring those who have fought to defend democracy in Brooklyn and beyond.

Now, we're proud to announce our 2024 honorees!

We're proud to celebrate:
* State Senator Zellnor Myrie, Senate Election Committee Chair, and Assembly Member Latrice Walker, Assembly Election Committee Chair, for their work to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, campaign finance refom, and other pro-democracy legislation.
* Council Member Shahana Hanif, for fighting to enfranchise and empower immigrant New Yorkers; Council Member Lincoln Restler, for ensuring integrity in our elected officials public campaign financing; and Council Member Alexa Avilés, for working to ensure true language accessibility at polling sites.
* The Bay Ridge Democrats, for their tireless work to elect Democrats in southern Brooklyn.
* The New York Democratic Lawyers Council, for their crucial work as poll watchers and efforts to ensure all eligible New Yorkers can vote.

In Other News...
The Brooklyn Can't Wait coalition ([link removed]) is working to elect District Leaders committed to a more transparent, engaged and active Brooklyn Democratic Party. A crucial step in that process begins this week!

Join us Tuesday, January 23 at 7pm at First Unitarian in Brooklyn Heights or on Zoom ([link removed]) for a joint endorsement meeting to hear from District Leader candidates. All are welcome to connect with potential future leaders of our local Democratic Party and ask them questions! Each partner club will conduct their own endorsement vote after the meeting.
