JOHN – 51 years ago today, the Supreme Court handed down their landmark decision in Roe v. Wade, legalizing abortion at the federal level and ruling that the Constitution protects the right to reproductive choice.

Sadly, Trump’s far-right Supreme Court struck down Roe in 2022, stripping that choice from millions of Americans. They’ve rolled progress back over half a century.

But thanks to millions of Michiganders who made their voices heard, we were able to successfully pass a ballot initiative to codify abortion rights into our state constitution. We were one of the first states to do so after Roe fell.

Now, Michiganders are safe from the right-wing assault on our civil liberties, but not every American is so fortunate. Since Roe v. Wade was struck down,14 states have made abortion illegal.

And many Republicans won’t stop until abortion is banned nationwide – including right here in Michigan. Not on our watch.

I’ll be damned if I let my anti-choice extremist opponent, who calls abortion “genocide,” serve another term in Congress when there’s so much at stake.
