John—We should be celebrating today. Exactly 51 years ago, the Supreme Court issued its landmark decision in Roe vs. Wade and reaffirmed the principles of equality, dignity, and reproductive freedom for women.

Instead, five decades later, the far-right supermajority on the Supreme Court overturned this important precedent and let politicians make health care decisions for half the country.

The fallout since has been awful. People have been forced to travel across state lines to receive abortion care. Women—including minors—are forced to carry unwanted pregnancies to term. And doctors are forced to deny life-saving treatment to their patients for fear of criminal prosecution. In Ohio, a woman faces criminal charges for having a miscarriage.

This is the dystopian reality extreme MAGA Republicans created, and if they hold onto power, it will only get worse. Mike Lawler and national Republicans will enact a national abortion ban if given the opportunity. I am running to stop him.
