Hi John,

My team and I have spent a lot of time laying out why John James isn't the voice our community needs representing us in Congress.

Today though, I want to make sure you know why this race means so much to me. If you can't stay and read the whole thing: I'm a Democrat running a people-powered campaign to unseat John James and finally tackle gun violence in our country. Please consider supporting my pro-safety movement today >>

A quick reintroduction, John – I'm Emily Busch, running to represent Michigan's 10th District in Congress.

I grew up in a tight-knit family. My mom, a nurse, and my dad, a manufacturing representative, taught me the importance of hard work and helping your community.

Over twenty years ago now, I moved to Oakland County because it was the place I wanted to raise my family – a place with friendly neighbors, good schools and safe neighborhoods. And everything was great, until I experienced a parent's worst nightmare.

On November 30, 2021, a shooter opened fire at my son's school. Four students lost their lives, and seven others were injured that day.

For me, just for those few seconds of not knowing if he was okay… I don't want any other parent or family member or child to ever go through that.

But because of John James' inaction, because of his indifference, we're no closer to seeing real solutions to the gun violence epidemic we're facing.

John, I am sick and tired of relying on John James' "thoughts and prayers" to get us through.

I've reached out to elected officials and testified in the state legislature – now, I'm ready to be the unapologetic advocate for gun safety our community needs in DC.

I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work, but my campaign needs your help to get this message to voters across the district. Will you join my team with a donation of any amount today?

Thank you,

Emily Busch

Emily Busch Headshot

Emily first learned the importance of community and helping others from her mom, a nurse, and dad, a manufacturing representative, while growing up in a tight-knit, middle-class Midwestern family.

The proud product of public schools, Emily worked hard in and out of the classroom, balancing her studies and interest in performing arts with an after-school job as a cashier at Ace Hardware. She went on to earn her B.A. in Biology from Indiana University and Masters from Michigan State University.

Now, Emily is running for Congress in Michigan’s 10th District to keep our kids safe, protect our rights, and lower costs for Michigan families.

Emily chose to move to Oakland County two decades ago because it was the place she wanted to raise her family – a place with friendly neighbors, good schools, and safe neighborhoods.

She and her husband, a retired firefighter and Marine, enjoy camping, fishing, and visiting national parks in their free time.
