John,

If you’ve only got 30 seconds to spare, read this:

We have an exciting opportunity to shape a new government initiative into a workforce comprised of our most vulnerable that will make our country safer and more climate-resilient: The American Climate Corps (ACC). Set to employ over 20,000 in land conservation efforts, clean energy installation, and climate change mitigation, the ACC is currently seeking input on how to best structure this game-changing project. That’s where you come in. With your help, we can push for the inclusion of those impacted by both climate change and the justice system. If implemented, we can fundamentally reduce one principal cause of repeated incarceration and poverty: the lack of opportunity after imprisonment.

Support a Climate Corps that Provides Climate Careers for Our Most Impacted!

To realize its full potential, we propose the following recommendations for the ACC:

  1. Preference for Most Impacted: Prioritize individuals affected by both climate change and those impacted by the criminal legal system.
  2. Targeted Regions & Recruitment: Concentrate on regions most severely affected by environmental pollution and degradation.
  3. Support Skills & Development: Ensure participants receive livable wages, childcare, and are equipped with the necessary support and skills for successful careers in the climate sector.

Lend your support before January 31st! Sign our petition below to forge a path toward a more equitable and sustainable economy and environment for all of us.

If you’ve got 2 minutes to spare, read this:

From 1933-1942, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) — a work relief program that employed millions in conservation projects across the country — was a beacon of hope during the Great Depression. Those unemployed were offered jobs, on-and-off-site training, medical care, and skills that enhanced their employability after their service. Including the 5 billion trees planted and the 800 parks serviced with trails and shelters, the CCC was a testament to both our environment and the economy.

Today, we have the opportunity not just to build upon the legacy of the CCC but to go even further by focusing on our most impacted communities. The American Climate Corps (ACC) is offering a new generation a chance to bolster climate resilience, advance environmental justice, and deploy renewable energy projects. As the design of this is being finalized, we have the chance to make this initiative strengthen our nation as a whole by uplifting our justice-impacted populations.

Sign to Ensure the ACC Becomes a Legacy to Our Communities & Environment!

The American Climate Corps can tackle the dual challenges of climate change and criminal justice, championing success in both. It’s no coincidence that our most polluted areas are the same areas that often face over-policing and unfair sentencing due to systemic racism. Many face harsh working environments in detention facilities, such as heatwaves and flooding during their sentence, and may lack the financial and voting power to advocate for change afterward. If the ACC provides a livable income and applicable skills that guarantee employment following their service, it could simultaneously reduce the incarceration rate and help neighborhoods become healthier and more climate-resilient.

We need your support before January 31st to see this executed. Help put an end to the harsh realities faced by our justice and climate-impacted and give them the ability to rebuild their lives, economy, and environment.

Sign Now! Climate Corps — Champion Success for Our Justice-Impacted!

Let’s make the American Climate Corps benefit all of us, not just some.
