WMATA's crucial support for the DMV region is made possible by the work of more than 9,000 members ATU Local 689. Going into Fiscal Year 2025, WMATA faces an estimated $750 million funding gap and proposed cuts to meet that gap would have devastating effects both next year and far in the future. AFL-CIO national conference unites labor movement leaders in a crucial organizing year

From January 12-14, more than 800 union members, activists, organizers and leaders from across the country gathered in Montgomery, Alabama, for the 2024 AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference.
