Herbert,
In 1973, the Supreme Court ruled that reproductive rights are a fundamental liberty that must be protected from government interference. This landmark decision was a huge victory for women's rights and gave women the right to make their own reproductive health decisions.
However, the fight to protect reproductive rights is facing unprecedented threats after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Now, some Republicans across the country are introducing regressive policies to try and restrict access to abortion and life-saving reproductive care.
As a father to a precious little girl, this issue is deeply personal to me, and I will continue to fight to ensure that my daughter and every woman in Baltimore County are afforded the right to control their own bodies and make their own healthcare decisions without interference from the government.
This fight is far from over, and we must continue standing together to defend abortion rights and access to reproductive care from attacks at every level of government - from Baltimore County to Washington.
Onward,
Johnny O
