Fake abortion clinics pose as healthcare providers, but these “clinics” provide medically inaccurate information about abortion in an effort to manipulate people seeking health care. They shamelessly lie to patients about how far along they are in their pregnancies or trick patients by trumping up false complications that delay their care until it is too late or too difficult to obtain an abortion.

Our state governments are actively supporting these fake medical clinics, funding these facilities that try to convince people to continue their pregnancies instead of providing actual health care.

Fake abortion clinics are outright deceiving us, so why is the government supporting them? We deserve health care clinics that are evidence-based and support a person's full range of reproductive health care–that is what our taxpayer money towards health services should support.

Crisis Pregnancy Centers are fake abortion clinics. These “health centers” masquerade as healthcare providers but exist to confuse pregnant people with the goal of preventing them from learning about or accessing abortion services. They engage in manipulative tactics to prevent people from making informed choices.

Anti-abortion extremists operate these fake clinics in order to prevent pregnant people from receiving abortion healthcare. Worse still, at least 16 states devote hundreds of millions of dollars (taxpayer money) to fund them.

Following the overturning of Roe, there was a surge in funding fake clinics, much of which came from federal money intended to help low-income people and families access REAL, needed health care. Our state governments should be promoting public health, not funding sneaky, manipulative tactics to disrupt reproductive health care access.
