In Kenya’s capital Nairobi, 60% of the urban population resides in 200 informal settlements, including Kibera and Korogocho. These communities face severe poverty, challenging socio economic conditions, and elevated crime rates. Basic necessities such as clean water, sanitation, hygiene, health, and education are scarce, with environmental sustainability and sexual and reproductive health and rights often neglected due to insufficient infrastructure and resources. |
