51 years ago today, the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that the right to abortion was protected by the Constitution.
But nearly 50 years later, a very different, far-right Supreme Court overturned that decision, effectively criminalizing abortion in entire regions of the country.
We shouldn’t have to still be fighting this fight. We won in 1973, and that should have been the end of it.
Today makes me think back to an event that we held at a senior center in Montgomery County. When I talked about the importance of codifying Roe, I saw on the faces of those who had lived in our country prior to Roe the disbelief that we are forced to fight the same battles that they thought they had won decades ago.
My daughter — and all of our daughters — deserve to grow up in a world with more rights, not fewer.
With anti-choice extremists pushing a nationwide ban, we need to fight back in the Senate. Will you please donate to my campaign so I can fight for reproductive justice at the federal level?
More than 50 years after the highest court in the land ruled in favor of abortion access, we’re still fighting for our lives in parts of the country where anti-choice extremists pack courts, gerrymander their way to legislative majorities, and strip women of their bodily autonomy.
But we refuse to go back, which is why we need to pass federal legislation to protect nationwide access to safe and legal abortion.
If I’m elected to the U.S. Senate, I’ll be a tireless advocate for reproductive freedom and push for federal protections for abortion access.
Can I count on your support by chipping in $25 to my campaign so we can fight for reproductive rights together in the Senate?
