Folks,
51 years ago today the Supreme Court issued its landmark decision in Roe v. Wade. About 18 months ago the Supreme Court led by justices appointed by former President Trump overturned Roe v. Wade and rolled back a fundamental right that had been in place for nearly 50 years.
Abortion is health care. It’s a fundamental right.
Ever since the decision overturning Roe, we’ve seen GOP-controlled states enact dangerous restrictions on abortion. Not in Virginia. We have avoided the attacks on the fundamental right to abortion in Virginia because our communities came together and elected Democrats to our General Assembly.
We now have a chance to amend the Virginia constitution to protect abortion rights now and into the future. This is a multi-year process that will require grassroots supporters to continue to tell elected leaders that abortion rights remain a priority.
I’m reaching out to grassroots supporters like you, and asking if you can lend your voice to demand that we protect women’s reproductive freedoms by amending our state constitution.
As we embark on this multi-year process at the state level in Virginia, I’m doing everything I can to protect women’s access to care in the United States Senate – securing contraception access, protecting the right to travel for care, and cracking down on misleading abortion ads.
But if we want to preserve reproductive health care for women in every corner of the Commonwealth, I need you with me in this fight. Add your name to my petition now >>>
Thank you,
Mark Warner
