✊ Save the Date: Union Reform 101 ✊
|
All over the country, workers are organizing on the shop floor to build strong, militant, and democratic unions. From Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) to Unite all Workers for Democracy (UAWD), the impact of union reform movements is loud and clear. Labor union reform caucuses have helped elect union leadership that's willing to put up a fight - helping Teamsters secure a historic union contract, and leading UAW to launch an unprecedented strike led by the rank-and-file.
Join Atlanta DSA's labor committee on Sunday, February 25 for an info session and workshop on union reform caucuses. We'll cover topics like: What is the goal of union reform? What are some examples of successful union reform movements? How can you get involved in your local union reform efforts?
This workshop is open to anyone, although union members are strongly encouraged to attend.

💵 Mutual Aid Request: Atlanta Amazon Driver 💵
|
On January 10th, Amazon Delivery driver and organizer with Amazonians United Atlanta Hunter Richau was suspended without pay. This suspension came only a few weeks after a successful petition delivery on the behalf of his coworkers and is a clear attempt to silence an organizer fighting for better working conditions on the inside. Now, his future employment with the company is in jeopardy and he is likely to be terminated as a result.
During this time of uncertainty, Hunter will need assistance with bills while Amazonians United Atlanta challenges Amazon to clear him of any wrongdoing so he can return to work. Every dollar helps - thank you!

📕 Political Education: Red Roundtable 📕
|
Atlanta DSA's Political Education Committee is proud to announce a monthly community roundtable. This event is for all those who wish to hear other voices and have their voices heard.
With Black History Month just around the corner, this session's roundtable topic is Civil Rights struggles. We can discuss both historic and present-day issues such as censorship of school curricula, myths about civil rights' relevance today, and the methods organizations at the front lines are using to fight back against regressive policies.
All are welcome to join and contribute!
