People's Alliance

Friend --

It was great to see so many PA members at the Endorsement Meeting last night!

In 2024, PA is hosting monthly welcome hang outs. Come out to Hi-Wire on Thursday, February 8th at 6:30pm to meet fellow PA members who are ready to take action.

RSVP to the February 8th member hangout!

Excited about our endorsed candidates and ready to get involved with the voter outreach team? Sign up for our upcoming canvass events on the PA Calendar! The first canvass is on February 10th.

Instead of attacks on public education, North Carolinians want an end to the manufactured controversies that distract from the real problems our children face. At the event, Sadie Allan (editor Pirate's Hook, Riverside High School) will interview three Black women public school leaders about the challenges they face.

Join DPS Board Chair Bettina Umstead at the event on Jan 31 as she welcomes:

  • Monique Felder, Superintendent-in-Residence with The Innovation Project
  • Millicent Rogers, DPS Board of Education member
  • Gloria Woods Weeks, DPS Principal, Riverside High School

The Durham Public Schools Foundation has kindly offered to provide a light meal. Please register here so we know how much food to order.

Register for the Black Women Lead conversation!

The People's Alliance Fund is proud to work with the Durham County District Attorney's office to promote on a private screening of 36 Seconds: Portrait of a Hate Crime on February 12th at 7pm at the Carolina Theater.

Register here for this special documentary event!

The screening will be followed by a discussion featuring an esteemed panel that will dig into the film, the criminal case, and the issue of hate crime laws. Panelists include:

  • Durham County Board of Commissioners Chair Nida Allam
  • Durham County District Attorney Satana Deberry
  • State Senator Jay Chaudhuri

WUNC’s Leoneda Inge will moderate the discussion.

This is a timely and critically important film. Seats are limited, so reserve your spot today.

Thanks so much for your continued commitment to the PA, Friend. We can't wait to see you at these upcoming events!

P.S. If you haven't had a chance to fill out our short member survey, please take 2 minutes to do that now! It will give us a better understanding of what local issues you are interested in and how you want to be involved in the PA's ongoing work to advance a progressive vision for Durham and NC.
