FL-27 Newsletter Vol. 118, Issue #48 Dear Friends/Amigos, We've had another successful week fighting for District 27 in Washington, D.C.! I chaired a hearing on the Castro regime's latest scheme. Reports of an emerging new "Cuban private sector" are reaching the United States, and the Biden Administration is acting accordingly to give those MIPYMES, or small business owners, access to our banking sector. See why that's a big mistake below. I also had the chance to return to Miami to spend more time with my constituents, one of my favorite things to do as your Congresswoman. Tune in to 'Sunday Night in America' on Fox News tonight at 9pm, I'll be talking with Trey Gowdy about my Dignity Act! As always, feel free to reach out to my Miami office with any help you might need with a federal agency at (305) 668-2285. My office is always ready to help my constituents. Sincerely/Atentamente, María Elvira Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) EXPOSING THE CASTRO REGIME'S MYTH OF THE NEW CUBAN ENTREPRENEURS! Last week, I decided to convene my first hearing of 2024 as Chairwoman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee about the Cuban regime's latest dangerous plot to sustain itself financially. Havana's latest scheme? Convincing the world of a new emerging, "independent" private sector in Cuba. Unfortunately, the scheme seems to be working as the Biden Administration is now thinking about opening the American banking sector to these MIPYMES, or small businesses. The Cuban exile community knows that there is not a single person, property, or life that the regime is not willing to exert its control over. Yet, there are always people who are willing to enable the Castros. Right at the start of my hearing, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) interrupted, hoping she could sit as a Member of Congress and spew the Cuban regime's propaganda while you, my community in South Florida, watched. As Chairwoman of the Subcommittee, I was well within my rights to not allow her to do this, so that was exactly what I did. To the Biden Administration: You are playing with fire by engaging with the regime's charade. Don't fall for it! For a recap of my hearing last Thursday, click here. OUT AND ABOUT IN DISTRICT 27! Yesterday, I was out and about in Cutler Bay attending their Cutler Bay Chili Cook-Off! It was amazing to see so many District 27 residents out to celebrate their community with delicious food, a true testament to the American Dream that we all share in. A huge thank you to Mayor Meerbott, Town Planner Casals, the Town Council, and all their staff for putting on a fantastic event. Also a huge congratulations to the winners for making the best chili in South Florida! If you ever see me in an event out in the District, feel free to walk up, say hello, and tell me what's on your mind!
