This past November, every seat in the Virginia state legislature was on the ballot – and thanks to Tara and her team, Virginia Democrats held on to their majority in the Senate and flipped the House – thereby stopping Gov. Glenn Younkin from banning abortion in Virginia.

But, our favorite part of the story? For the first time in history, Virginia elected its first Democratic MAJORITY FEMALE state legislature.

Prior to starting the organization, Tara launched a campaign centered on the care economy, particularly paid family and medical leave. After the fall of Roe in 2022, she launched Roe Your Vote Virginia, focused on helping abortion-rights candidates run and win in Virginia’s 2023 General Assembly elections. She and her team certainly succeeded at their stated mission. We couldn’t have been more thrilled to join in their efforts.
