Dear John,

At the Fulfillment Fund, the health, safety and well-being of our students, staff, partners, donors, volunteers, and community is our highest priority. Since our founding more than 42 years ago, our mission has been centered around serving those in need, with the impact rippling out to the entire community — and this moment is no different.

Due to the continued threat of coronavirus (COVID-19) spread, LAUSD schools and many other districts have closed, and many colleges have asked students not to return to campus for varying periods of time. During these uncertain times, however, the Fulfillment Fund remains fully committed to supporting our students , realizing that they and their families face upheaval and a break in normalcy. It is thus that much more important that we continue providing essential college access and success services, while also ensuring that they, and our team, remain healthy and safe.

* We are providing college access lessons and 1:1 college counseling sessions to our high school students via virtual tools such as Google Classroom, Zoom, text, calls, and other channels. In particular, this is a critical time of year for our high school seniors, who will make decisions about college acceptances and financial aid that will affect the rest of their college careers and lives. Our college counselors remain in close contact with them to provide guidance around these important decisions.
* We continue regular check-ins with our college students, who attend college locally, all throughout California, and across the U.S., to ensure that they effectively navigate their campus's response to COVID-19; acclimate to college life – whether they are in their first year or fourth; enroll in the classes they need to graduate; and access additional support resources, as needed.
* In upholding our responsibility to the community to mitigate further spread of COVID-19, and to our staff to provide a safe and healthy workplace, we have transitioned all of our staff to working remotely until further indications from health authorities.

Additionally, in doing our part to keep our community healthy, we are postponing our annual fundraiser, Eat · Drink · Be Inspired , which was scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2020, with a tentative new date in late summer/early fall. We will keep you updated with further details as soon as possible.

If you have already made your sponsorship or ticket purchase commitment, thank you! If you haven’t had a chance to support the event and would like to do so, or have questions about your existing event gift, please contact Carole Crone at [email protected].

In these unprecedented circumstances, it is vital that we continue to support our students. The curriculum and personalized services we provide will keep them on the best path toward future success — and with early indications of prolonged school closures, students need Fulfillment Fund’s structure, guidance, caring, and expertise to keep them on their educational trajectory.
