My grandmother is a big part of why I ran for Congress.

She was a public school teacher, and she taught me the importance of the value of a good education.

That’s why I am proud to announce that we’re delivering more than $1.2 million in federal funding to Baby TALK, an educational nonprofit based in Decatur.

Early education and care are critical to the success of our children, their families, and our economy — and investments like this one are a major step forward in our efforts to build a more equitable education system for all.

This funding will ensure Baby TALK has the resources to promote school readiness for young children and their families, and will give them the foundational tools to succeed far beyond their childhood.

I know that more needs to be done, so this is just the beginning of my efforts to build a brighter future for our children in IL-13 and across the country.
