John, I’ll level with you: Abortion bans make our country less safe.

And I wanted to talk to you about it in a context you might not be as familiar with – in our military. When servicemembers have to travel away from their stations to receive necessary healthcare, because of an absurd statewide abortion ban, that poses a threat to our military’s readiness.

That’s not the America I fought for in the Navy. The America I fought for protects our freedoms, including the rights of women to access potentially lifesaving healthcare.

That’s why I’m so proud to have fought for women in the military to receive three weeks of leave and travel expenses if they had to seek an abortion.
