Friend,
I’ve never done something like this before.
But right now my family is up against more than we can handle on our own. And
there’s nothing I won’t do to protect my family – even ask a perfect stranger
for help.
Next month, my beloved son – former Deputy James Johnson of the Williamson
County, TX Sheriff’s Department – will go on trial for manslaughter.
He faces decades in prison for doing his job by the book.
This is a photo of James with his son.

James dreamed of being a police officer ever since he took his first
"ride-along" in a cop car at the age of 18.
How could we know back then that one day he would find himself the target of
a nationwide political movement directed and financed by radical anti-cop
billionaire George Soros?
If you’re sick of our men and women in blue being targeted by anti-cop
prosecutors, then I pray you’ll find it in your heart to help my son today.

Please let me explain…
On the night of March 28, 2019, my son conducted a routine traffic stop.
But instead of pulling over, the driver – a convicted drug dealer named
Javier Ambler – floored the gas and tried to flee.
The suspect’s speed quickly exceeded 100 miles per hour. Along the way, he
collided with signs, trees, fences, and other roadside objects.
The chase lasted for 22 minutes and spanned two counties. At any moment,
another driver or a pedestrian could have been struck and killed by the drug
dealer’s reckless driving. It was a deadly serious situation.
Eventually, the chase ended when the suspect crashed head-first into a tree.
My son ordered him to get on the ground at gunpoint. He refused. James
ordered again, and still the driver did not comply.
That's when another Deputy and an Austin Police Officer arrived on scene.
Together, they tried to handcuff the giant man – but he kept resisting and
fighting to get back on his feet.
Now, my son is strong. . . but this man was twice his size. . . nearly 400
pounds. And even together, the three officers could not subdue him.
So, to put a stop to his fighting and get him handcuffed, they deployed a
taser again.
Still nothing – he kept resisting.
They tased him once more and they were finally able to get him into handcuffs.
That's when they noticed that the suspect had lost consciousness. Without
missing a beat, they immediately began life-saving tactics and radioed for an
ambulance to respond with high priority.
The suspect was rushed to the hospital – but despite the prompt medical
attention, he was declared dead on arrival.
According to the medical examiner, Javier Ambler's "morbid obesity" had given
him "congestive heart failure" and "hyper intensive cardiovascular disease," –
which, in the heat of the struggle, caused his death.
Soon after, an internal affairs investigation by my son's department found
that the deputies did nothing wrong. A second independent investigation by the
Austin Police Department concluded my son and the other officers committed no
such crimes and did not cause Ambler's death.
But two years after being cleared, James was charged with manslaughter!
So what changed?
Well, Travis County – where the suspect crashed and the chase concluded –
elected a new District Attorney.
A George Soros-funded District Attorney . . . a Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth
Warren-endorsed District Attorney . . . a socialist District Attorney, who
campaigned not on fighting crime – but on cracking down on police.
His name is Jose Garza, and in just over three years in office, he's charged
dozens of cops with crimes while letting countless violent criminals go free!
Somehow, my son James got caught up in something much bigger than himself,
and now he's lost his job and his life savings trying to defend his good name
in court.
Worst of all, if convicted James’s children will lose their dad to decades in
prison.
Now I hope you can see why I’m swallowing my pride and asking you to help me
fight for my son – and my grandchildren – by supporting James’ legal defense.

You see, right when we thought all hope was lost – we got a call from Jason
Johnson at the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF).
This incredible organization helps innocent cops who are unfairly prosecuted
for split-second, life-or-death decisions they make in the line of duty.
They provide legal counsel, expert witnesses. . . whatever is needed to make
sure wrongly accused police officers get a fair shake in court.
And they do it all free of charge!
They're funded entirely by the generous support of big-hearted donors like
you, who can recognize a miscarriage of justice. . . and want to help fix it.
My son has told me he feels abandoned by the people he dedicated his life to
helping. I told him there are people out there who still support the police…
…and I pray you are one of these people and that you will step up and help to
fund the $150,000+ in legal fees he’s facing.
Will you please help my son clear his name by making a generous tax-deductible
donation of $35, $50, $100 or more to LELDF today?

No matter how much you can give to help LELDF fund James’ defense, I hope
you'll know how grateful I – and my entire family – will be for your help.
With deep appreciation,
Karen Dabney
P.S. My son has four children of his own. If James is convicted and receives
the maximum sentence of 20 years, they'll be grown adults by the time he's
finally set free. He will miss out on everything. And his children will grow up
without a dad.
So, please – PLEASE – won't you send the best donation you can today to help
keep my brave son out of prison and with his children, where he belongs?

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
