John,
Did you know that Lauren Boebert has been accused of stealing her campaign donations not one, not two, but THREE years in a row?
Apparently, Lauren has a hard time telling the difference between her personal bank account and her campaign’s. This is my third congressional campaign, so let me tell you: it’s not that hard to tell the difference between YOUR money and the money your donors entrust to you.
In 2021, Boebert admitted to using over $6,000 in donor funds to pay the rent and utilities for her bar and restaurant, Shooter’s Grill. It’s ILLEGAL to use campaign donations for personal use, but Lauren said it was a mistake – and hey, mistakes happen!
So why did she do it again?
The FEC opened an investigation into Boebert in 2022 for allegedly reimbursing herself $22,259 for mileage costs. She just happened to owe our great state $20,000 for failing to pay for her staff’s unemployment insurance.
Investigators believed the fees were paid with the “reimbursement,” while the remaining donations covered late payments to her employees. At least three employees accused Lauren of paying them in cash, without taxes deducted, in place of missed paychecks.
Despite this, the FEC dropped its investigation and potential charges after ALL THREE Republican commissioners voted against pursuing her. With no consequences for her actions, Lauren did it AGAIN.
New FEC filings show that Lauren spent over $300 in campaign donations on tickets to a bike race last August, a race her Beetlejuice boyfriend competed in (and lost, like she will in November). But that’s not all!
She also spent $450 in donations at her boyfriend’s cocktail bar last summer, just two months after she was reported to the FEC for funneling donations from her We The People PAC to cover campaign expenses – yet another major FEC violation.
Lauren Boebert is inept and corrupt on the campaign trail and in Congress. She could choose to play by the rules and treat her donors with an ounce of respect, but she doesn’t care about them, about Colorado, or our country.
Unlike Lauren, I’m not in this to fill my own pockets. I’m running for CO-4 to work for the people of this district, and I will never stoop to Lauren’s dirty tricks to win.
When I’m elected, I will serve in Congress with gratitude, and with the same respect I had for this country when I served in the Marines. If you’re with me, help me fight for Colorado.
