John,

Nearly half of U.S. plastic waste comes from single-use products and packaging. These toxic remains can last hundreds to thousands of years and are found in almost every corner of the planet – posing serious challenges to our health and environment.

The corporations that produce plastics don’t care what destruction they leave behind as long as they make a profit — but we do. Together, we can stop this plastic-palooza, starting by urging our members of Congress to ban single-use plastics.

Whether it’s a plastic bottle that ends up in our waterways, a child's toy sitting in a landfill, or even the shirt you're wearing right now — plastics break down into small particles called microplastics that we consume through food, water, and air.

We ingest up to a credit card's worth of microplastics every week. As if that’s not enough, some plastics contain additives that make us sick by interfering with brain development and disrupting hormones which can lead to cancer and congenital disabilities.

In 2018 alone, the hormone-disrupting effects of plastics in our food and water resulted in $250 billion dollars in additional healthcare costs!

Clearly, plastic pollution is not just an environmental issue – it's an urgent matter of public health and protecting future generations. Tell Congress to enact a nationwide ban on single-use plastics.

STOP PLASTICS

Alternatives to single-use plastics, such as recyclable, compostable, and reusable options, are readily available and effective. Several states have already passed laws to reduce plastic pollution and ban single-use plastic bags – now, we can do it across the country.

With your help, we’re fighting back against these greedy industries to break free from single-use plastic and defend our food, water, and climate.

Send a message to your members of Congress: It’s time to ban single-use plastics!
