John – This week, I did something the far right hates: held them accountable to their own words.

Here’s what happened: The GOP has gone out of its way to attack immigrants. So I said, if they want to gut asylum and halt immigration so badly, they should just tear down the Statue of Liberty. I even drafted a bill to get them started (which seriously pissed them off 😂).

Now, MAGA Republicans and Fox News pundits are attacking me for it:

Honestly, John, we saw this coming. I’m Fox News’ worst nightmare – an Afro-Latino, Gen Z organizer and child of Cuban immigrants.

But last time I checked, the Statue of Liberty says "send me your poor and helpless," not "I can't wait for mass deportations on day one." Either Republicans believe in the values this country was founded on, or they need to stop lying.

I know we can’t count on them to stop. They’re relentless, because they know their attacks will lead to donations for my opponents and everyone who wants me out. But you can count on me.

I ran on the hope that we can have elected officials who will stand up for our shared values and call out injustices. As long as I’m in Congress, I’ll always do that. I just need your help to stay here, and it has to come now – before the next right-wing attack.
