News from the Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation
January 2024
President's Message
The Beginnings of a Fantastic Year

Dear John,
I want to take a minute to congratulate you for being an important part of the Alzheimer’s prevention movement. Without our generous supporters, there's no research, no programs, no progress.

And guess what?

Because of you, John, we’ve surpassed our year-end goal! This is huge. Not only a humbling moment for our Foundation but such a heartwarming recognition of what the future holds. We cannot wait to continue our work in research and education.

This year we are hitting the ground running. Your support has already allowed us to organize the following upcoming programs:

Meditate for Your Memory Challenge: February 19-23
March into Movement: March 18-22
New Webinar: Brain Power for Life: How Early Development Influences You, on April 2, 2024.

We are constantly working on new programs and collaborations. Please stay tuned for more exciting news to come.

Again, thank you for trusting ARPF to lead the way in Alzheimer’s prevention. Together, we are doing everything possible to eradicate this horrible disease.

Yours in Brain Health,

Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D.
President / Medical Director

From Dr. Dharma
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who supported us last year. Here's to a happy and healthy 2024!
Brain Longevity Spotlight
Lana Gelb, MS, BLS
Lana is the President of Good Vibes Consultants. She has had a diverse wellness career for over 40 years and has studied and worked in almost all ranges of fitness. She will be teaching us Ageless Grace in an upcoming program this spring. It includes exercises done barefoot to stimulate thousands of nerve endings, the three major balance points, and textural awareness. It activates all five main functions of the brain through fun, Cognitive/Movement games, and challenges. It's a superb way to get your Brain Aerobics in only 10 minutes a day. Stay tuned for more!
In Memoriam
Dennis Pelon, PhD, BLS
ARPF is saddened to hear of the passing of one of our graduates, Dr. Dennis Pelon. Dr. Pelon was an accomplished clinical psychologist and yoga therapist. During his years in private practice, he earned a reputation for being one of the best clinical neuropsychologists in Michigan. After 30 years in private practice, Dennis and his wife started working at Lansing Institute of Behavioral Medicine where he started, “Hawaiian Shirt Fridays” to spread joy to those who were working on Fridays when others were heading out for the weekend. It caught on with staff and became a weekly tradition. Thus, the theme of his Celebration of Life. He also began his second career as a Yoga therapist which he absolutely loved and was known for his chants and wishes of Namaste.
