Fellow DEMOCRATS,

 

I’m going to be brutally honest with you. We’re in trouble. The Oklahoma Democratic Party went ALL IN for the 2018 elections. Mark my words, it was WORTH IT. We helped flip seats all over the state AND most importantly, helped flip the Fifth District. Unfortunately, now we’re in the hole with debts to pay. We MUST dig ourselves out of this hole IMMEDIATELY in order to function effectively in 2020.  We MUST be financially strong and organizationally functional to keep the Fifth District, support strong candidates, and flip more seats in 2020.

 

Honestly, it is important for us to look back and assess what went wrong (and what went right) and the new State Party leadership team is doing just that. However, these off years aren’t just for planning and reflection. Now is the time to get on a strong financial footing and build up our war chest to compete in 2020. We desperately NEED your support to do that. Will you help your Party in its time of need?

 

Some of last year’s elections turned out differently than all of us predicted. Blue districts are flipping Red, Red are going Blue. Elections that should have gone one way went another - some that not even Oklahoma Republicans thought were possible. We are crunching the numbers and putting in the work NOW in order to develop an effective plan for 2020. However, we must be laser-focused on getting our financial house in order first.

 

I don’t care which part of the Democratic Party you come from; we need everyone to work together if we want any hope of making progress in 2020. If you support Bernie, Kamala, or Elizabeth Warren – you are needed. If you support Joe Biden or Julian Castro – you are needed. If you are a college student - you are needed. If you are retired - you are needed. If you are a DEMOCRAT - you are needed. We can unify behind our Party NOW. We will win by building this party back up together.

 

I’ll be frank, right now, what we need more than ever is your financial support.

 

In order to win again, we must invest in resources, training, and our candidates more than ever before. That takes money. Many people think that if they can’t write hundred- or thousand-dollar checks that they can’t make a difference for an organization. Let me tell you something - if every single person who “likes” our Facebook page, over 26,000 people, donated just $10 a month; that totals over $3 million a year. That is a bigger budget than the Oklahoma Democratic Party has seen in a long-long time. That would bring us access to better training, an investment in the best tools out there, data, candidate support, outreach, and county party support programs. With your help, I honestly believe that goal is reachable.
