According to a recent report in Politico , one of Europe’s most senior politicians said Donald Trump privately warned him that America wouldn’t come to Europe’s aid if it were attacked militarily.
“By the way, NATO is dead,” Trump allegedly said, according to the report.
Well, I’ve got news for Donald Trump: NATO is here to stay.
In fact, our commitment to NATO is stronger than ever, thanks to my bipartisan legislation to prevent any U.S. President from unilaterally withdrawing from NATO. And Virginia is proud to have hosted NATO’s Joint Forces Command in Norfolk since 1952.
Despite the fact that Trump spent four years aligning himself with dictators, making enemies out of our allies, and disrupting the stability of the global world order, NATO remains strong.
