The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold a virtual public hearing on January 24, 2024 at 1 p.m. EST on proposed water pollution control standards for slaughterhouses and rendering facilities, many of which are not subject to water pollution control standards and, for others, several key standards have not been updated since the mid-1970s. The proposed standards are in response to lawsuits filed by Waterkeeper Alliance, multiple Waterkeeper groups, and our partners.
You may register to provide testimony or register as "listen-only." Participants who wish to provide comments should register before 5:00 PM EST on January 22nd. To register for the January 24th public hearing click here.
It is important to make your voices heard and call upon EPA to adopt the most protective standards proposed, which would cut the total amount of nitrogen pollution significantly more than some weaker options EPA is considering.
