This week the House Budget Committee advanced legislation to create a fiscal commission – a move that many warn could fast-track cuts to Social Security and Medicare, as well as a wide swath of non-defense discretionary programs important to the human needs community. ICYMI: Nearly two dozen of CHN's member groups and allies endorsed an emerging compromise on an expanded Child Tax Credit that would lift 400,000 children out of poverty in the next year alone and would benefit more than 80 percent of the estimated 19 million children who are harmed by the CTC's current structure.
