Hurst Fire Truck
Hurst Fire Department* Named One of 14 Fire Departments Awarded $160,000 Resiliency Grant *
The Northeast Fire Department Association (NEFDA) is a collaboration between the cities of Westlake, Colleyville, Grapevine, Euless, Watauga, Bedford, Hurst, Haltom City, Keller, North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Southlake, Roanoke, and Trophy Club to share resources during critical events. NEFDA was recently awarded a $160,000 state grant for mental health resiliency, valid for 12 months. This grant was the first in the region to be awarded to a 14-city collaboration, and more than 700 Fire members will benefit from this additional mental health support. The grant funds will be used for Readiness, Response, and Recovery. Readiness is education to all Fire Department members and the department Peer Teams. The response is working with Peer Team members to help with the cumulative events the fire department members experience daily. Recovery is making sure our fire department members have culturally competent clinicians and resources available for their needs while navigating mental health issues.

First Responder Trainings at old Bellaire Elementary Building
Do not be alarmed if you see emergency vehicles or personnel at the old Bellaire Elementary building during January 2024. As part of HEB ISD’s community safety partnerships, local first responders will use the old Bellaire Elementary building for training before the building is demolished. These trainings may take place during the day or night, inside and outside of the building, and could involve a variety of law enforcement, fire/EMS, and similar professionals.

Republic Services Garbage Truck
Garbage and Recycling
We appreciate your patience this week as the garbage and recycling collection schedule was delayed due to the extreme low temperatures we experienced. The safety of the crew members was a top priority, and Republic Services has been working diligently to catch back up. Garbage should have been collected on Thursday (for those north of 183) and Friday (for those south of 183) this week. Recycling was not collected this week due to their shortened schedule. *Republic Services will be back to a normal schedule next week for garbage and recycling collection.*
If you need assistance getting your items collected after your regularly scheduled collection day next week, please give us a call at 817-788-7000, and we will coordinate with Republic Services to ensure you are serviced.

The event is open to girls aged 3-14 and their fathers or father figures and will be held at the Hurst Senior Activities Center located at 700 Heritage Circle, Hurst, TX 76053.
