I’m so excited to invite you to a virtual event I will speak at next week: A Win on California Pension Divestment Is a Win for California Communities, hosted by our friends at Fossil Free California.

I will be joined by five other inspirational environmental justice leaders to discuss the plan to achieve a key victory by passing Senate Bill 252.

If passed, SB 252 would prohibit California’s biggest pension programs — CalPERS and CalSTRS — from continuing their multi-billion dollar investments in fossil fuel companies. Studies have shown evidence of improvement in fund returns when pension funds divest from fossil fuel companies.

My incredible co-speakers are leading the path forward to a future where worker dollars will no longer be invested in risky investments like fossil fuel companies that are not only polluting our communities but also actually hurting returns on pension funds.
