John,
Last night, I participated in the Democratic Primary Debate for Texas’ 32nd district. Despite dealing with unfair and untrue attacks from my opponents, we came out on top.
I do have to say I was disappointed that a Democratic primary devolved into Republican-style attacks.
My opponent was booed last night when he launched into a dishonest attack crafted by his out-of-state consultants, claiming that I’m anti-choice. Unfortunately for him, my record is clear. I voted against funding fake clinics that mislead women. Then I voted to move the funds from that program in order to gain more transparency on the use of taxpayer dollars.
Despite this, my opponent chose to lie about me. I’m disappointed - but I’m not surprised. And despite his bad faith attacks, the fact remains:
What separates me from the rest of the field is experience. I’ve won elections, served in the Texas House, authored legislation - and I’ve done that as a lesbian Democrat in a GOP controlled government.
I can face any challenge, and I’m ready to get to work on day one.
We’re headed full steam towards primary election day, and we MUST ensure our fundraising stays on track. While I’m the clear frontrunner, my opponent has deep-pocketed national allies funding his campaign - but I have grassroots donors like you. Can you chip in any amount you can to help me close my $3k budget gap before tonight at midnight?
