John -
During a recent call with a potential donor, I was asked why I was qualified to run for Congress. As I answered him with just three words, I realized what makes me a great candidate for Congress is the same reason I was able to achieve a major goal a few months ago.

Last year, Sarah and I marked a HUGE accomplishment off our bucket lists. We hiked to Everest Base Camp – the spot in the Himalayas where climbers begin their ascent of Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world.

Our trek spanned more than 90 miles and reached nearly 20,000 feet. We fought to cling to cables as we pulled ourselves up an icy 55-degree slope and struggled for footing as we scrambled across the largest glacier in Nepal.

Our lungs ached as each breath contained only half as much oxygen as one in Las Vegas.

It was so cold at night that our toothpaste froze in the tube, and we slept with our water bottles in our sleeping bags to prevent the water from turning into blocks of ice.

Only 60% of the people in our party completed the trek. The rest had to be evacuated by helicopter.
But we made it.

Why? Because we were prepared.

Sarah and I hiked hundreds of miles to ensure our legs and lungs could handle the trek. We relied on high-quality gear that we’d trusted for years. Our boots were broken in and comfortable.

We brought sleeping bags designed to keep us warm at -10 degrees, crampons to secure our steps on glaciers, and iodine tablets to purify unsafe water.

We understood what was required of us to succeed. As a result, we had an amazing adventure we’ll never forget – and we made it home safely with nothing worse than a few sore muscles and a rough case of jetlag!

So, when that potential donor asked why I thought I’d be a good member of Congress, I simply said, “Because I’m prepared.”

** Drew Endorses President Trump
------------------------------------------------------------

Drew encouraged fellow Nevadans to support President Donald J. Trump in the 2024 Nevada GOP Caucus. Drew said:
We need an immediate course correction to bring back the policies that provided America with energy independence, a secure southern border, tax relief for working-class citizens, and a foreign policy that ended wars while preventing new ones from igniting. I encourage all Nevada Republicans to join me in caucusing for President Trump in Nevada's first-in-the-West contest on February 8.

** Heidi Kasama Exits Race for CD3
------------------------------------------------------------

On January 4, Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama withdrew from the Republican primary contest for Nevada's 3^rd congressional district. Drew released the following statement:
Today’s news further indicates that our campaign is on the right track. We’re unifying the grassroots and earning the support of people across Southern Nevada with our positive, solutions-based campaign rooted in common sense, decency, and individual liberty.

Drew was a guest speaker at the January meeting of the Summerlin Patriots. He shared what motivated him to run for Congress, what he hopes to accomplish in Washington, and why voting this June and November is critical.

Drew joined Jewish community leaders and Nevada GOP Caucus volunteers to discuss the importance of electing Republican leaders committed to supporting Israel. The event was held at Väsker's Bakery Café, a great new restaurant located in CD-3 owned by an inspiring Israeli-American family.

On January 10, Drew and Sarah were guests at the D1SRUPT CES Pitch Event, a Shark Tank-like competition allowing tech inventors to pitch their creations to potential investors. A highlight of the event was an app enabling small business owners to keep track of the overwhelming mountain of regulatory and licensing burdens required by state and local governments. The app was developed by a Las Vegas-based entrepreneur who was inspired when she saw the frustrating maze that mom-and-pop businesses must navigate through to stay in compliance with federal, state, county, and city regulations.

Drew and Sarah were honored to share a few minutes with Jim Marsh at his 90th birthday party recently! Jim is an inspiring entrepreneur who provides great jobs for hundreds of families in Southern Nevada at his auto dealerships. He also protects our state’s history by preserving saloons and small hotels in Nevada’s rural areas!

ICYMI: The Reno Gazette-Journal featured Drew’s column ([link removed]) pushing back against a plan by the Biden Commerce Department to levy expensive tariffs on the metal used to make tin cans. The regressive tax would devastate low-income Nevadans by raising the price of pantry staples, including canned soups and vegetables, tuna, and pet food, by more than 50 cents per can.

Drew grew up in a household where every dollar mattered, and increasing the price of canned foods could’ve meant the difference between eating or going without. As a member of Congress, Drew will fight tariffs that increase inflation and harm working Americans.

** Endorsement Alert
------------------------------------------------------------
Drew recently earned the endorsement of U.S. Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger (TN-1), who said:
Drew has made a career out of fighting tenaciously for the values we conservatives hold dear. I know that once he's elected, Drew will join me in working to secure our borders, reel in out-of-control government spending, and reduce the size and scope of the federal government. I encourage all conservatives to do their part to help Drew win. I look forward to serving with him in 2025.
