Dear neighbor, 

Once again this week, House Democrats were the adults in the room and prevented a catastrophic government shutdown. Extreme MAGA Republicans have brought the federal government to the brink of shutting down three times because they cannot govern responsibly. Each time, Democrats put people over politics and provided the majority of the votes necessary to keep the federal government open.

Now that government funding has been extended, House Democrats will continue fighting back against the extreme MAGA majority’s agenda of criminalizing abortion nationwide, slashing Social Security and Medicare, and gutting nutrition assistance programs for American families.

DEFENDING DEMOCRACY AROUND THE WORLD: Democracy is under attack across the globe. As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I am hard at work to protect our national security and support our international allies. Throughout Putin’s illegal war on Ukraine, I have called upon President Biden to support our ally through military and humanitarian aid. It is essential for democracies to support each other and reject authoritarianism, violence, and terror in all forms.

This week, joined by Congressmen William Keating (D-MA) and Jared Golden (D-ME), I sent a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken urging the Biden-Harris Administration to provide Ukraine with long-range missiles to counter continued Russian aggression and end this war. JOIN US FOR SERVICE ACADEMY DAY! My office will be hosting our annual Service Academy Day on February 3!
