John,
In 2016, after three years of horrific wildfires and watching millions of acres of forests die and burn, I ran for Commissioner of Public Lands because I was determined to do my part to keep Washington State – the Evergreen state – evergreen.
Within my first year, I launched the Keep Washington Evergreen Initiative to restore one million acres of forest to health and conserve one million acres of forest from development. In just six years, we have made significant progress, restoring over 600,000 acres of forestlands, preventing hundreds of thousands of acres from burning, and conserving another almost 200,000 acres from development.
The challenges our forests, waters, and communities are facing go beyond Washington state. Year after year, climate change is having a horrific destructive impact on every corner of our country, from increasing wildfires and dying forests to drought, deadly heat waves, and flooding.
Now, with an eye toward a brighter, more sustainable future for every American, I am taking my bold vision and my relentless commitment to climate action to Congress. Because the challenges our environment and our communities face deserve nothing shy of EPIC goals and EPIC progress.
I can’t do this without you, however. I need your support to ensure my vision reaches every voter in Washington’s 6th Congressional District. As we kick off the 2024 election year, we must ensure we're ready for the race ahead. Will you join me as a 2024 Founding Donor by contributing $25 right now? We’re already halfway through the month, and we must stay on track for our new year fundraising goal.
