People are hurting. As our nation hunkers down to help flatten the curve, the economic impacts are dire. Jobless claims are skyrocketing and working families are uncertain of their future.
Yet, this administration has a clear priority: How do we help the big corporations in this time of crisis. They’re already talking about another corporate bailout plan.
That won’t happen without some major concessions. If companies want our help, then they need to put working people first. That’s why I’m demanding that any bailout plan include provisions for paid sick leave for ALL workers, a total halt on evictions and foreclosures, loan forgiveness, and direct cash payments to every American.
If you agree that we need to put working folks first, not massive corporations, sign your name here:
No company should receive a dime of government support unless they commit to supporting their workers. And if they do get that support, absolutely none of it should go to corporate bonuses, CEO pay, or stock buybacks.
In the past, our government has put the interests of big business above that of our working neighbors. That’s not happening this time.
Onward,
Ro Khanna
