** ICYMI: OH-13 Newspapers Applaud Congresswoman Sykes’ Efforts On Behalf Of District
------------------------------------------------------------

** “I just want this government to work for people in this area.” – Rep. Sykes
------------------------------------------------------------

Akron, OH – In case you missed it, both the Akron Beacon Journal ([link removed]) and the Canton Repository ([link removed]) published editorials praising Congresswoman Emilia Sykes work on behalf of her the 13th Congressional District constituents.

"An effective lawmaker finds ways to assist those they were elected to serve and to advocate for their community, even when gridlock makes it nearly impossible to get laws passed.” writes the Akron Beacon Journal and Canton Repository Editorial Boards. "Sykes has taken this approach with her to Washington as she begins the second year of her first two-year term representing Ohio’s 13th Congressional District."

Both editorials highlight Sykes' advocacy for the region, citing the $100 million in federal dollars she’s brought to the district and her ongoing efforts to bring back more federal support.

“This potential influx of federal funding could be exactly what Akron needs to take advantage of its historical strengths to expand the local economy.” writes the Akron Beacon Journal Editorial Board.

“She… urge[d] future expansions to include the region, citing such benefits as connecting travelers with the Akron-Canton Airport and workers in Central Ohio's growing job market with Greater Akron's more affordable housing stock. There's no word yet whether her request will go anywhere, but at least someone is speaking up for the region.” writes the Canton Repository Editorial Board.

Sykes herself characterizes her work as “pretty boring”, adding "I just want this government to work for people in this area."
"In these times of uncivil discourse and ineffective division in federal politics, we'll take boring any day.” writes the Akron Beacon Journal and Canton Repository Editorial Boards.
