Friend,
This week, lawyers from the North Carolina Attorney General office took to court to argue against the state’s extreme restrictions on medication abortion.
North Carolina has some of the strictest restrictions on mifepristone in the country — requiring patients to undergo counseling, complete a 72-hour waiting period, and have the drug administered by a doctor in certain facilities. This is MUCH more restrictive than current FDA guidelines, and may be a bellwether for what medication abortion access could look like after the Supreme Court has its way.
Luckily, North Carolina has Josh Stein leading the way, fighting for increased access to the most common form of abortion in the United States.
The North Carolina AG seat will be open this fall, as Josh Stein runs for Governor, and the current Republican frontrunner for the seat is a far-right anti-abortion extremist.
That’s why it’s so critical that we elect reproductive rights champions in all 11 states with attorneys general races this fall — it’s the difference between keeping and losing abortion access for all.
