Hey folks,

My name is Zeke Cohen, and I represent District 1 on the Baltimore City Council. I'm running for Baltimore City Council President because Baltimore deserves better. We need leaders who will bring our community together and find real solutions.

But first, let me tell you a bit more about myself. My mother was a social work professor, and my father was a psychiatrist. I was inspired by my mother's stories of registering people to vote during the Mississippi Freedom Summer and her commitment to tikkun olam, or "healing the world." My parents instilled in me the belief that we have a responsibility to give back to and enrich the lives of our community.

I graduated from Goucher College, where I developed a deep love and connection with the city. After graduating, I wanted to dedicate myself to public service, so I began teaching in West Baltimore. There, I witnessed the profound disparities in our school systems and realized we needed to do more to encourage our students to become civic leaders. I then started my nonprofit, The Intersection, to help teach students about civic leadership and community organizing.

Democracy only works when everyone has a voice in the process, and that belief is what guides my work in public service. I know that when we all come together, there is no problem we can’t solve. That’s why I’m asking you to join our grassroots team and show your support by endorsing my campaign for Baltimore City Council President today!

There is a severe lack of faith in our public officials to deliver effective city services and resources. Baltimore deserves leaders who will hold themselves and others accountable. That’s why I helped pass the Transparency and Lobbying Act to stop back-room deals and put trust back in our city.

I mean it when I say that this is the most important election for our city. Right now, we have massive investments coming in from the federal government, state leaders, and a U.S. President who value our city. We have to seize this moment and get it right.
